Church Isn’t about the Building. But It Still Matters

Church isn’t about showing up perfect on a Sunday, it’s about showing up real. Jesus designed the Church as a living, breathing community of believers. Here’s why it still matters today.

We hear it all the time:
“You don’t need a building to worship God.”
“Jesus said we are the Church.”
“I connect with God better on my own.”

And to some extent… those statements are true. Jesus did say we are the Church (Matthew 18:20). And yes, our faith isn’t confined to a Sunday service. But here’s the thing: Church was never meant to be a performance. It was always meant to be about people and community.

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Show Up

There’s a pressure that creeps in, have you felt it? Especially on a Sunday.

Wear the right thing.
Say the right words.
Smile like everything’s okay.
Raise your hands just enough during worship.

But Jesus never asked for that.

He never said, “Clean yourself up before you come.” He said, “Come to me, all who are weary.” And sometimes we’re most weary from trying to be someone we’re not.

Church Isn’t a Stage, It’s a Table You’re INVITED TO SIT AT

It’s not about putting on your best face, finding your smartest shirt
It’s about being real, being present, and letting God meet you where you are. And worshipping with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Because the Church isn’t just about sermons and songs.
It’s about hearts gathered, flawed, healing, learning, growing. Surrounding ourselves with the love the almighty has for all of us.

It’s where we remind one another:

“You’re not too broken.”
“You’re not too far gone.”
“You don’t need to pretend.”

Jesus Is the Church

For those of who you do not know, most of Jesus’ disciples were sinners. And you think you’re not worthy?
He sat with sinners. He walked with doubters. He taught in synagogues, not to uphold a system, but to fulfil His purpose.

The early Church wasn’t polished. It was raw. It was family. And it was powerful because it was real.

Come As You Are, And please Keep Coming

Don’t let “not enough” keep you from the place God wants to meet you.
You don’t need a filtered version of yourself to belong in church.
You need a willing heart. That’s it.

So show up.
Tired. Messy. Healing. Curious.
Because church isn’t for the perfect. It’s for the people.

And Jesus?
He’s still in the room, no matter how it looks on the outside.
